Annotation/data labeling
- As a labor issue: Around the world, annotators are subject to low-paying, inconsistent work that is sometimes mentally damaging. We need to protect and appreciate these vital tech workers.
- As a management problem: As detailed in this post, many data scientists and model developers do not know how to properly manage and work with annotators, leading to poor experience and bad data.
AI/AI Ethics Literacy
- For technologists: Data scientists and model developers should receive more training on AI ethics and how to reduce harm.
- For the general public: There need to be more accessible education about the limits of and potential for harm from AI.
